PPD: Salyersville woman facing second fentanyl trafficking case in a month

Jennifer Fletcher

A Salyersville woman was arrested on Aug. 16 in Paintsville for the second time in one month on fentanyl trafficking charges, according to the Paintsville Police Department.

PPD Officer Tyler Cable wrote in the citation that he was advised that Jennifer Fletcher, 43, of Fletcher Branch Road, Salyersville, had fentanyl on her person and was trying to sell it, leading him to make contact with Fletcher.

Cable said in the citation that Fletcher advised him she had nothing on her person before giving him permission to search a black bag she was carrying, which led to the discovery of a set of scales with a “lot of brown and white powder on top of the scales” and its lid.

Fletcher advised Cable that the brown powder was “the same drug he caught her with last time,” when she was arrested on Aug. 1, and he noted that she also had two small spoons in the bag, both of which had residue that appeared to be the suspected fentanyl.

Fletcher and her daughter were arrested during that Aug. 1 incident, after a report from an individual that they had sold heroin to a 16-year-old child, according to the citation. A subsequent search, court documents said, led to the discovery of “many used empty needles,” another spoon with suspected drug residue, a needle with a dark, liquid substance inside of it, two other metal spoons, one broken glass smoking pipe, four Suboxone tablets, approximately 10.7 grams of a white powder that Jennifer Fletcher stated was Benadryl, approximately 21.4 grams of suspected fentanyl, empty plastic bags suspected to be for resale of the drugs, a “weed grinder,” five straws and three more smoking pipes, the citation said.

For her Aug. 16 arrest, Fletcher was charged with first-degree and second-offense trafficking in a controlled substance (carfentanil or fentanyl derivatives) and possession of drug paraphernalia and lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, where she was released on Aug. 21.

No court dates had been set in Fletcher’s cases as of presstime.
