Colorado woman arrested after drugs seized from her hotel room

Felony amounts of cocaine, methamphetamine and crack cocaine as well as misdemeanor amounts of marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms were seized from a Colorado woman while she was staying in a Powell hotel on March 12.

Rosalie M. Hosking, 56, was at the Super 8 when Powell Police Officer David Salters received information that she had multiple types of illegal narcotics inside her motel room.

Hosking was ultimately charged with five counts of possession of a controlled substance — one count each for cocaine, methamphetamine, crack cocaine, marijuana and psychedelic mushrooms or “magic mushrooms.”

In a combined effort, the Powell Police Department, Wyoming Highway Patrol and Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation executed a search warrant on Hosking’s room. She was detained on the scene while law enforcement searched her room.

According to the affidavit, several items were immediately observed on the bed, including a plastic smoking device, a tin can with a plastic bag inside containing cocaine and a cigarette pack with five rolled marijuana joints inside.

Hosking “made the spontaneous statement that she purchased that in Colorado,” the affidavit said.

Officers then found a green pill bottle with methamphetamine inside as well as two hairspray bottles with false tops on them.

Inside one of the hairspray bottles were two baggies of cocaine, one bag of crushed psychedelic mushrooms, a glass smoking pipe and 11 empty plastic bags, the affidavit said.

The second hairspray bottle contained several bags of “THC hash,” the affidavit said.

Inside Hosking’s duffle bag, officers located another “large bag” of psychedelic mushrooms. Behind the bed frame, a glass container with crack cocaine inside was found, the affidavit said.

Hosking was arrested and taken to the Powell Police Department, where officers weighed the amount of drugs seized from her hotel room.

Approximately 38 grams of cocaine and 1.2 grams of crack cocaine were seized along with roughly 18 grams of meth, and nearly 1.6 ounces of magic mushrooms and marijuana, the affidavit said.

During her arraignment in Park County Circuit Court, Hosking was given a $150,000 cash-only bond and ordered not to leave Park County, according to the bond conditions document.

If convicted on all charges, Hosking faces up to 23 years in prison and a fine of up to $47,000.
